The total chicken production from the last quarter of 2018 was estimated at 505.24 thousand metric tons, liveweight. This was 6.82% higher than the 2017 level of 472.96 thousand metric tons, liveweight.
Thirteen (13) regions registered increases in production, ranging from 4.97% to 25.80% during the fourth quarter of 2018. Meanwhile, CAR, Cagayan Valley and CALABARZON recorded declines in chicken production.
More than half or 63.40% of the total chicken produced were from Central Luzon, CALABARZON and Northern Mindanao. Central Luzon remained the top producing region, with 34.56% share to total chicken production. |

The swine industry showed increases in production from 2016 to 2018. The volume of hog production for the fourth quarter of 2018 was estimated at 662.73 thousand metric tons. This was 2.01% higher compared with the 2017 output of 649.68 thousand metric tons.
The top three hog producing regions during the period were Central Luzon, CALABARZON and Northern Mindanao. These regions posted increases in production by 4.41%, 3.00%, and 3.52%, respectively. The combined production of these three regions accounted for 47.84% of the country’s total hog production. |
